I'm kind of a newbie to the muscle car world, so I know it's kind of a ridiculous question but...Do the cutouts give you much more power/free up the exhaust that much? I have some kooks headers and mbrp 3" exhaust going on the challenger tomorrow and I'm wondering if the cutouts would really free up the engine any more or is the exhaust enough? I know if the exhaust is too big it can cause low-end torque issues but would this be an issue with the cutouts? Any help would be GREAT and most certainly appreciated...

I know jack can give the real answer but cutouts do nothing to improve performance

I have noticed a loss of low end torque with cutouts open.

that's what I was afraid of...but they do sound VERY cool. Thanks for the help, and I really don't know if I'll get them. We'll have to see how the new exhaust/headers sound first and go from there.

If you open them up over 3K rpm, no worries.

I haven't noticed much torque loss with mine, not like my 3.5 had much to begin with. But the 3.5 sounds better at low RPM with the cutouts open.

I did some research on cutouts, and came to the conclusion they dont really do anything for performance, but they sure do sound awesome. Are you getting the O2 extendors with your kooks headers? I hear they can be a pain in the a$& to get pass emissions, but maybe that was the cam. I wanna see what numbers are you putting down on the dyno, because that is similar setup I am looking to get Kooks LT Jett coated 1700 and Corsa Exhaust. You are going to have one mean Challenger, with your mods.

Alot of LX's with long tubes end up having cat codes. I disable with diablo, but for emmissions its a pain.

I had to put a stock tune back on the car, and grandma around for a couple days before I could pass inspection.

And when you have cutouts, you get vibrating seats!
