Janell finally got me to dig some of my stuff out of the safe so she could put together a shadow box for me. I have some more accolades but these seemed most appropriate for the sprit in which it was done. It is not as impressive as alot I have seen but sadly my time was relatively short.

That's cool Sean. So, tell me what they mean. Looks like you were in NYC at the time of the attacks on the Towers? I bet you have some stories...

I was a Paramedic / Rescue Tech in NYC at the time of the attacks. I was there shortly after the first plane hit and did not leave for about 6 months after. I then deployed to Afghanistan for DSS (Diplomatic Security Service) duty and again for a combat tour. Not long after that I was sent to Iraq again on DSS duty for Haliburton and stayed on for a combat tour, my service was ended when we were struck by a IED in Fallujia in late 2006. I'll start for the upper left and go to the upper right..... A medal for my service in Iraq, next is my Expert in handguns from the Coast Guard, next is my medal for service to the Expeditionary force on the war on terror, then in the middle and hard to see are my 2ND lieutenant bars, then a medal for my service to the Global war on terror, next is my Expert in rifles from the Coast Guard, and the upper right is my medal for service in Afghanistan. The ribbon bar corresponds to the medals, the red and gold ribbon is for extraordinary life saving efforts, I also have a silver for the same but my eight ribbon bar broke so we used my 7 bar . On the bottom is a mission patch from 9/11 I have a few of those from both the FD-NY Fire and Dept of EMS, in the middle is my State ID badge, and then one of my NYC Paramedic patches. The flag currently in the box is a place keeper in prep for the flag we are hoping the Government with fly in memory of my lost brothers on 9/11.

I wanted to do this for Sean for a long time, and so he ordered the box. We had fun doing this together. I am really proud of his service. He is my hero. He has both wonderful and terrifying stories and memories. I am learning a lot about the military from him.

Sean, let me know if you still need an 8 ribbon bar. Between Emily and me, I am sure we have one laying around. If not, I could always make a run to the BX for ya.
