I am looking at ordering some HIDs for my hi/lo/fog and was wondering if anyone had had issues with being ticketed in Utah. I know that many here have had these installed for a while now and have had time to find out if they attract the attention of LEOs working on their departments revenue enhancement programs.
I love the look of the HIDs, but I have also had too many close calls with deer in Utah. That little bit of extra reaction time would be nice.
Also, I have been leaning toward the 8000k unless anyone wants to talk me into 6000k.

Are the HID lights the ones that are like rainbow lights? Mine if you are following my car they look like they change colors depending on the angle.

HID are the ones you may have noticed on higher end luxury cars that seem to have a slight blue tinge. They put out 2-3X as much light as a standard halogen bulb.

i've seen Daves and there not much glare at all (and thats the main problem not having them in a projector lens) i have 10k in my fogs and havent had any issues but my fogs also have smoked lens's so that tones them down a bit! i still wanna get the matching set for the headlights but dont think i will be doing that without modding the oem housing or gettin the newer oem housing that has projectors!

Yeah I don't think you'll have a problem with any officers, There's actually two cop cars in So. Jordan that have HID's a Crown Vic, and a Charger.
I've got 6k headlights and foglights and run them both at night.
Just keep them aimed low, even with them low you get a lot more light then a halogen.

I have projector low beams with 10k, high beams with 10k, and fogs with 10k.

The more blue/ purple you go the more likely you are to have problems if you stick with a 6000 or even an 8000k you should be pretty safe. The people who get pulled over a lot that I see are mostly huge trucks with 12000k all around.

Whats the big deal with having blue lights? Do they stop you because they are to bright? I think the blue ones look cool besides you shouldnt stare at on coming lights to began with.

HIDs are not legal at any color as an aftermarket install. They are only legal if they came standard. There is nothing "wrong" with an aftermarket HID install if it is adjusted properly, it is just an easy ticket for a LEO in a bad mood or that needs to generate revenue. That is why I am going to go HID on lo/hi/fog so that there is no contrast and it will have a more OEM look. I think it is around $140 for everything for all three lights from DDM.

6k is almost a tru white HID. Its what I run in my lows and fogs. My highs are still the stock bulbs but I never use them, its why I didn't convert them.

I changed my mind and ended up ordering the 6000k kits yesterday. I watched a few videos on youtube and felt that the 6000k might be a better choice.

6k looks the best IMO. I had 8k at first and decided they were to blue for me.
