How did you get your score Will? You just asked or did they give you the sheet? I'm curious of my score and what they base it on. I just got to talk to them while they were loading up after I met with the host about helping at my local show next year. All the sheets where already gone in the trailer so I didn't get to see it, not that they'd have showed it to me had I asked. They sure weren't bashful when they told me it was a couple of points and that had I cleaned my undercarriage things would have been a little different. I was even told he was detailing the car again as they arrived... a "wow factor" to them you could tell. I'd be curious to see what the score sheets are broken up as too. In comparison a car like Kelly's is a wicked ride and is rightfully a victor as it is a notch less worn and apparently a few points cleaner. I never congratulated him, but he should know that I do. I'm sure they break down the mods, quality of installs, condition of interior, exterior, and so on. I know when I've judged they gave me a sheet that has 5 categories scoring up to 25 points each for a total of 125 points. When we did daily drivers though, we broke them out and we put a point maximum on things like exterior and undercarriage after the cars are scored. I.E. if you scored 25 for a perfect exterior on a 60k mile car you only get 20.... just because someone got a door ding at a Wal-Mart the night before the show and you didn't, we aren't going to hold that against you. But if it comes down to the wire, we then look back at the other points for tie breakers. Consider this me pouting... I guess I'm just a little saddened as I used to have a show car that was undefeated in its class through 6 consecutive shows over 2 years. Putting more personal time and love into this car than any other I've owned and the only recognition I get from doing car shows are the memories kind of goes from humbling to taking the wind out of your sails. Its a one extreme to another thing. I've always been the competitive type if you can't tell. Knowing I can keep the car in such good shape yet it sees over 25K miles of highway a year as I coach my hockey team through Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and Montana with a 3 year old in the back the whole way is pretty impressive if you ask me. But, its something that apparently means a little more to me than others.

Was a great time for sure! Congrats to Kellie, Chris, Dave, and Ed for coming home with awards this year! As well as the Club award again. I need to get a copy of that group picture we took at the end. Must be Kelly, not Kellie. Minor details!!

It's intended to be pretty informal and relies on the judge. There's 100 points possible with 4 categories. Two judges are assigned to each class (that they don't have a car in).

I'll be judging again this year... Really?! Todd have I ever told you what a great guy you are and how your Chally is such a track beast? LOL See you tomorrow! I ended up judging the Corvettes (2 seater class), motorcycles and extreme this year. They were pretty easy. I try not to judge in the 90's and later class if I can help it. Most of the guys at the show are classic hot rod types (which may account for their detailed approach). The concourse at the Targa Tooele this coming weekend will be won by participant's choice (popularity) after the event on Saturday (so bugs and road grime are probably not going to be a factor). Hope to see you guys there!

Todd, thanks for the incite. That's about what I gathered. Its seems quite similar to what I've done in the past. A 'hot-rodders' approach hits the nail on the head regarding their being so thorough. Which, I will say, I can appreciate a good judge so don't get me wrong there.
Its the word detail at the end of those categories that got me... next time I'll drive my happy a$$ car through one of those bays that has the undercarriage jets on it... at least once, I promise :-).
Oh, I'll take my paint band-aid off too and repair that nasty rock chip. It does stand out like a ruby in a goats... you get the drift.

Thanks for posting pics Lee! Cars look Great! Congrats to all those that went and those that won! looks like there was some new cars, I havent seen before. @ Wil, dont let it get you down, me personal, my car is a daily driver except winter, so thats why I dont care for the car show scene much. If I had a garage queen (no offense) I would be more inclined, but my daily driver has some imperfection you get from driving lol C'mon Chris we'll get you to one of these eventually buddy!!!!! You know that daily driver of yours is beautiful and gawked at all day while your driving around! Being a daily driver is what some of the people respect at these shows as well because they know the difficulty in keeping these things in such great shape! and your car is always beautiful!!!!! heck i think my car is one of the cleanest out there inside and out and themed really well and i drive it everywhere everyday and even through winter and she has never spent a day of her life in a garage, its just a labor of love i suppose and we all have it! I myself don't go the show for the picky kind of awards i go for the great causes and to hang with all of my friends and the peoples reaction to all of us rolling in together (including the judges) they all approached me again this year and thanked me personally many times for all of us taking the time to come out again, they all think its the coolest thing when we all come in together. they even specifically recognized the effort we put out doing this during the awards and even had key chains specifically just for us besides the award! And i don't know if Gordon or anyone else has said this but they even asked Gordon if they could put his car on the shirts for next year! Man that was cool! So THANK YOU to everyone again, you are awesome! hope to see you again at this weeks meet n' greet on Friday, hope to see you to Chris, its been a while man!

The memory is in the end what makes these things so fun no matter the outcome. The staff and organizers where the most grateful group I've ever encountered, I'll be sure to let Mike know how appreciated they are too. And Chris... I concur your whip is truly one of the cleanest I've ever seen for the 300C SRT. Don't lie, I know how you are with that car man. Can't say I blame you... I lay down my coat over puddles too so she stays clean ;D. Patrick, no garage? Man, I'd go crazy without one now. I could have sworn you park in one seeing that paint. Like we both said though, its about love and care on these things. I just bought my house end of November and finally mid winter could say I began parking indoors. I don't know what I'd do without it now as I can detail, paint, modify to my hearts content in warm out of the element conditions. The driveway detailing next to my single wide days are finally over... man do I miss not having a mortgage though???

yeah not having a garage makes many things very tough, I appreciate you noticing on saturday how my paint and everything looked, it takes a lot of work keeping it that way especially after 5 years now, no garage AND utah's salty winter roads! I cant wait until the day I have one, cause I have to say there are many things I wanna do but cant let her just sit outside in the driveway in pieces while I do them lol! and hey Chris I know the difficulties trying to juggle everything and keep everyone happy especially since you do racing along with the meets, cruises, shows and your sports and are still fair to the family....... no way I could do all that! so I mean no disrespect when I harass you and I hope you haven't taken it that way, if so I apologize. you are one of the first club members I met and are truly one of the nicest friendliest coolest cats out there, you always make everyone feel right at home so I always enjoy hanging with ya, so im just gonna keep harassing you when I dont see you lol (even though you make it to more of the events then I do) hope to see you friday brother!

The concourse at the Targa Tooele (Saturday after the GTA) will definitely be bugs required.... No trailer queens because you have to run to get into the concourse!
