When the engine work was done we had a 180 t-stat installed. What we have noticed is the temperature gauge on the dash is showing a different temperature that the digital display. The dash temp is 20-30 degrees lower than the digital display. So, the dash temperature shows the engine running below 200 and at a temperature I would expect but when we went on the cruise the digital temperature was running 230+.
Any ideas on why the difference? Is this something also controlled through the tuner?

From what I've read, the digital gauge is accurate while the gauge in the cluster is more of a dummy gauge. Unless something is wrong, or the temp gets to where it would start to cause engine damage it stays centered.
When are you gonna bring it by my work so the guys can check it out? and what's the update on the Charger??

Charger will be unveiled at Autorama.
Just trying to get some information about the problems before I take it over. Trying to be a little educated:)

it all depends on where they hooked up the digital temp gauge at. 230 is pretty high 203 is boiling point at our elevation. now givin the mixer with the coolant it's not gonna boil but you're well over where it should be. 1 thing you might try to do is get a temperature reading in the overflow tank with a meat thermometer. now given I'm not sure how I was hooked up if it doesn't use the same temp sensor as the stock gauge and uses its own sensor it could be mounted in a location were the temperature is higher at that point.

Or are you referring the the EVIC digital display in dashboard varying from the temp gauge next to rpm tachometer (the non digital gauge)? That is vary odd, that you would get 2 different readings. One way to double check is plug in diablo predator and do a playback, chances are that would give you an idea of which gauge is miss reading temp. I have a 180 Tsat, and my digital Evic reading is dead on were my dash temp gauge is. Dont think the Tsat would have anything to do with the variation in reading. Keep us posted and good luck.

Yes, I am referring to the EVIC display differs from the non digital gauge. They used to match dead-on but now the EVIC is reading much, much higher.

Make sure your in the right screen on the evic. The oil temp and engine temp screen look very similiar and the temps for the oil would be around 200+ this is the screen you should be in

Correct! Drove my car today and oil temp was 213 and engine temp was 184. So Kelly, the readings you are seeing are 2 different temp gauge. the higher of the 2 temps is your Oil Temp and the other is your engine temp.
Hope that helps and puts you at ease.

I will have to take a picture but the jeep has a different EVIC and the digital reading has the engine oil icon that matches the engine oil icon on the dash gauge.

I need to drive it and then take it over to Karl's. Maybe this weekend. We are thinking about driving it to Irvine, so I definitely need to get it fixed or an answer as to why the discrepancy in readings.

I know you already have the dyno sheet on the Jeep, but if you've got the time I think it would be great if you could make it down to the Dyno day event! My boss is starting to think it's just my imagination talking whenever I bring it up lol.

Update: I stopped by and showed Karl the difference in the gauges. One is the water temp and the other is the oil temp, so we are all good on the readings. He also has an idea on how to adjust the throttle calibration, we will tackle that one after Autorama.
