So I got my oil changed a little while ago by the dealership, and you know how they always try to sell you on random things? Well this time they said they tested the battery and said it was bad due to all the lights and everything I have ran to it. It seems to start and run just fine, except recently I started having problems with getting my HIDs to come on, sometimes one will come on, sometimes none, so I have to sit there and turn them on and off until they both come on finally. (it can be really annoying ) But when I unlock my car they both come on everytime with out fail. But anyway so I guess my question is could my battery really be bad? I always thought that if they were bad they wouldn't start your car kind of a thing. Or is it just something weird with my HIDs?

Just like all batteries they decrease the amount they can charge over time, which eventually leads to problems like your having now.
With the headlights, the reason they're probably coming on when you unlock it is because there's nothing else using the battery at the moment. When the car is running it's a different story, since a lot more of the vehicles electronics are being used.

Do your lights turn off and then turn back on when you start the car?

My HIDs do the same thing. Only one will turn on or none will and I have to keep turning them till they both fire uo

Another question I have is are you guys running a wiring harness specific for the hid system? The light system Chrysler uses sends out a test pulse periodicly and that can send your ballast into safe mode.

I think I'm using a universal one... Is it wired to the battery or is it a plug and play through the factory harness?

I can get you a harness that directly wires to 12vthen plugs into the factory for switched power. If that doesn't fix the problem you probably have a ballast going bad. Message me if your interested in getting a harness.

Do your lights turn off and then turn back on when you start the car? no they stay on as long as i turn the headlight switch on before I turn on my car. Another question I have is are you guys running a wiring harness specific for the hid system? The light system Chrysler uses sends out a test pulse periodicly and that can send your ballast into safe mode. No they are just plug and play but I got these weird little things that they called an error code eliminator that is supposedly supposed to trick the cars computer into thinking that it is just running regular headlights? they plug into the headlight power source then to the ballast. I have no clue really what they do but they said the lx cars needed them.

To double check the battery just take it out and take it over to AutoZone or one of the other parts houses. They will check the battery for free. That way you can get a second option on it's condition.

Do you live near South Jordan? I have a tester that will test CCA's, identify if there is a bad cell, and identify a good, low charge, or bad battery. I would be happy to test it for you if want to stop by. If interested ill give you my address.
