So I'm hoping this year I'll have enough leftover to get a catback. Likely not enough for a corsa, maybe Magna flow, slp, or flow master. I'm torn as can be on these brands. I've had FM before and love the sound. But I hear a lot of complaints about them on these cars. I need a place I can go to hear each one in person. Any suggestions? I have the full catback magna Flow exhaust if you want to listen to mine. You can check out how idle, cruise, WOT sounds to get an idea, just let me know. Very mimimal drone at low rpms. Very pleased with my MagnaFlow setup, keep checking all the national forums, something is bound to come up, as it always does. Hopefully before you by something. Thanx for the offer. Do you think the 6.1 will compare in sound to the 5.7? I suppose the drone wouldn't be an issue without the mds. Is there another gathering before spring?

From my experience the 6.1 has a little bit deeper tone compared to the 5.7, but I'm sure that has a lot to do with me working around cars all day, I can almost tell you what a car is from a distance without even seeing it if the exhaust is loud enough. Do you mean you are going to tune out the MDS? Or does your car even have it? That's where most people usually say they get the most drone, but don't worry about it if you don't have it/are getting rid of it. I don't know of another big meet yet, but I'm sure a couple of us are going to end up meeting at the South Towne Expo center for Autorama sometime this weekend.

I was referring to the 6.1's lack of mds. What show is at the expo? I went to the auto Rama a few weeks ago.
Edit. I was just corrected by my wife, that was the auto expo we went to.

I have flow master American thunder on mine Any installation issues as stated above? I would look at the force ll system. Seems like it would be a bit quieter than the tunder kit. I'm a considerate neighbor. I took it to master muffler in Kearns.

I took it to master muffler in Kearns. They did the flow master on my Mercedes. They totally under quoted the job but stood by the quote. I'd go back.

Magnaflow ftw. I haven't had it on a Chrysler vehicle yet but I have had it on a couple of my other vehicles and imo it is a much better quality system than the Flowmasters. Right now my Jeep just has the muffler cut out but I have a Magnaflow muffler in my garage in case I get hassled on my next emissions test.

Chris your exhaust does sound good. I got a good listen following your to fast of a car for mine through salt lake Thanks Sean, now I just cant wait for 3G customz to release their electric cutouts. Yeah, as Harrison, their maybe a slight tone difference with the 6.1 compared to 5.7. I also have Long Tube Headers and Catless Mids, which changed my exhaust note as well.

I have my eye on a used corsa sport a member is selling here. Where can I hear one? I have to convince the wife this won't be obnoxious, youtube vids are not good enough.

Harrison... if I were a gambling man, and I am, I'd bet you could pick out a 5.0 Mustang from a mile away... if not two. I'm thinking you guys probably do that whole scene from Gone in 60 Seconds with the exhausts of cars in the background every morning while you have coffee. I can see it now "... its a 1966 Ferrarri 330 GT, Daytona at the starting line..." (or something like that anyway). Meanwhile us office junkies get coffee and no car sounds You're right, the 6.1 is deeper in note. Bigger compression chamber with open heads moving more air equals a very nice throaty note. Unlike a 5.7 which needs a little help getting a deeper note to burp out. At least the Daytona had an exhaust option that was better tuned for a rumble. As for the MDS, it is present in ALL 5.7 Hemi equipped cars. Not trucks. This began in 2004 in cars and I believe 2006/7 in trucks? But that wasn't where I was headed with this... The MDS has nothing to do with the drone effect. The misconception comes from the RPM range of the MDS coinciding with that of the frequencey which causes droning in our cars. Happens right around 2500 rpm. That was where our factory resonators came in and which happens to be where the cylinder deactivation/reactivation volleys in many cases while cruising. Corsa and JBA have engineered their systems to absorb the odd-ball frequency so that it does not reverburate back into the chassis and cabin causing drone. For the price, the JBA system is one of the better engineered products available for the LX/LY/LC cars. Some more expensive systems like Magnaflow or even Gibson have had complaints of the dreaded drone. Speaking of... I'm with Alejandro, mine is getting extremely irritating. Guess that's what I'll do with my tax return, replace the whole system.... ;D Anyone going to want an all welded custom system with a set of Thorley Headers? Headers will fit any 5.7 LX/LY/LC, but exhaust is AWD. I'm going to have to get rid of it all some how so might as well go to another member for cheap.

I have the flowmaster super 44's which i think sound good but i'm with the others i'm starting to get tired of hearing my passengers complain about the drone especially on road trips. It doesn't bug me much but it's really loud in the back seat. I have been fine with it for the last 2 years though so I don't see myself changing it anytime soon.... but we'll see.

I went back and forth on magnaflow, corsa, and even coilovers. In the end, I picked up the corsa from Slo2go here. Thanks Dean! Maybe next year on the coilovers or wheels. Now I need some dry driveway time to install. Thanks for all the input all! PS. Yes that's my kitchen. Attachments:
