Hi, gang. I just signed up here. I am also on LXforums and Chargerforums (screen name: TurboMinivan), though I've barely posted there at all. I found out about this forum when you guys cruised into my work today (I'm a salesman at the Doug Smith Autoplex). Had a chance to speak to Kellie for a bit, and I was happy to learn about the local LX group. In the past I had numerous "car gang" friends, but most of them just wanted to street race. I always preferred to play at the track. My current crop of cars are itemized in my sig. I typically daily drive my Jeep, and the wife always drives the Focus. She used to commute in the R/T, but it tends to sit in the garage most of the time now that we have the Ford. The Miata is currently sitting on jackstands with no engine/trans/diff; I have a freshly rebuilt 5.0L Ford V8 and T-5 transmission waiting to get massaged into place. Should be fun... someday. My R/T is nearly stone stock. I did straight pipe the suitcase, but the rest of the exhaust is OEM. All badges have been shaved, there is 20% tint, and I swapped in an SRT-8 grille to gain honeycomb and eliminate the chrome (I hate chrome!). It's very mellow compared to most of what I saw at work today. Anyway, I'm just a lifelong car junkie with way too many car-based bad habits and not enough money to support them. EDIT: added picture (taken before shaving HEMI badges).

Welcome Gibbs to SLCLX! Hope you post here more than you did on the other forums. Nice R/T and I am sure the RMR group here will be hitting you up for next years fun. I plan on joining them as well.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, I hope to attend a gathering or two in the future, though my work schedule often makes attendance prohibitive. We'll see if I luck out.

Welcome to the family!! Great looking car. We have a very nice group of people and to me they feel like family. As you saw yesterday our group has as a wide variety of cars. Some in the group like to heavily modify the looks of their cars, some are more into the performance modifications, some do both, and yet we have others that like keeping their cars stock but very clean, they are all good and we like them all. Don't know if I got a chance to meet you or not, sorry if I didn't. I try walking around so I can talk and meet as many people as I can. We'll keep you posted on the track events. RMR (Bracket Drag Racing) will start up in the spring, this year the two clubs SLCLX and the Mopar's of Utah (another great group of guys) combined and raced under the MOU banner. We took second place over all. It's a lot of fun. We'd like to take first place this next year. I hope we are able to have more club events at the LH Miller track. I learned yesterday they had their annual food drive for the Utah Food Bank. All you had to do was donate some food and you got to race three laps around the road track, behind a pace car. One of my friends from the MOU group went and said he was hitting 125 mph in the straight way. Then for $20 they let you take a second round if you wanted. We'll have to put that on the calendar for next year. Again welcome!!!!

Well then i guess we will just have to make a trip down to your work like some people were saying and maybe bbq up some stuff and get people to come in..

I bracket raced for five years in the Heavy class... in my turbocharged Dodge Caravan. If you squint you can see I was dialed at 14.42 on that pass, though I did keep tweaking over time until it consistently ran 13.5x ETs. I didn't think that was too bad for a stock-engined four banger. Sadly, rust issues kept getting worse, so I eventually stripped it clean and had the shell hauled off. One more nugget of trivia about me and my former van: any of you guys remember the inaugural Mopars at the Strip event back in 2003? I won that event in the FWD class in my van.

Nice!! You'll fit right in and we could use your help this coming spring.
Last year was the first year my daughter and I attended MATS, we we missed it. We plan on going again this next year if they still have it. Not sure what's going to happen how that Painter lost their dealerships and they were the main sponsor. Rumor has it something is in the works.
