Ok, for those of you that have the need for speed like I do, and brag about how fast your cars are, here is a chance to prove it!!! Rocky Mountain Raceway is setting up a series of Drag Racing events for the summer where you can test your skills against the lights and other cars. Here are the details; Club Racing. 5 Friday nights May-1, Jun-12, Jul-17, Aug-7, Sep-4 Individual must register for the class = Street Legal - Club cost $20 Sign up with a specific Club Affiliation - Mopars of Utah, Buick Club, etc. Cost $ 25 for each Friday Race - One Big Club Class If you are registered for 2 Classes and pay for 2 entries you can run both Club Class and another class on these 5 nights. ie - Street Legal Heavy and Club on same night Car must be street legal, registered etc. Must have exhaust, but even headers and header mufflers will be ok. Full exhaust not required. 90 dB Sound limit ( they are not likely to check however ) Tires - Any Legal DOT or Slick OK Preferred Tire = DOT-Slick/Drag Radial or True Slick 1/4 mile racing ( even Top Fuel and Pro-mod to go 1/4 mile !!!! ) The guys over at the Mopars of Utah are looking at putting enough cars together to qualify for a Club status. You don't have to be a member of their club to participate (we're all brothers (and sisters for the gals) here anyways). They are trying to avoid having to team up with a Chevy, Buick, Ford, or other mfg car club. Told them I would post a thread on this forum to see if anyone would be interested in participating. I missed the LHM course, I'm not missing this one! Plus I want to see what it's like to drag race my car down a real drag strip! How about showing some Mopar muscle out there?

I am very interested in doing this, count me in for sure. I want to see if I can break into the high 12's. Plus this is 10x better than street racing. Dont have to worry bout others & chances of getting a reckless speeding tickets with endangerment to others.

And as you mentioned, you don't have to pay a fine when you get this paper.

where and how do we sign up for this? I have the Web Address for the form. But I know to get a number on how many are interested to see if we have enough for a club. Here is some additional information that was just posted on the MOU forum. Posted by Dr. Doug; All Clubs will race every race nite. 1 Class for all racers to slug it out against each other.
Registration cost will be $20 per person. Fill out the registration form and stop by RMR during the day, or mail it in with a check or fax it in with charge card.
Here is the link to the form www.rmrracing.com/2009/drag/DragRegistration.htm
It is best to have the registration done before race night or you will spend all your time in the tower getting registered and then not have enough time to get tech inspected and time trial runs in before the race starts.
There will be an Individual Overall Champion for the Club Racing based upon winning the largest number of points for attending ( 16 pts ), winning rounds ( 10 pts ) and winning events ( 2 or 3 points depending). If you are going to be that racer champion, you probably need to go to all 5 races. ( Some Buick Racer was the last Overall Club Series Champion and I have the Jacket and Trophy to prove it!
There will also be a Club/Team Overall Champion. This will be based upon totaling all the points won by the members in each club group totaled up. The Club/Team award could be won by a Club that had a varying group each time. The last Club Overall Winner had between 6 and 18 cars each nite. The Winning Club, Mutant Racing, beat the Corvette Club even though they had fewer cars than the Corvette's because their guys won more rounds. Last time it was a very nice 3 ft tall trophy.
SO..... if you want to win the individual trophy plan on showing up every race! If you want to win the Club Trophy, have lots of cars each week so you have the largest number of round wins.
You can also run any sort of intra-club competition you want on your own. Like fastest MPH, Lowest ET, Best RT Worst RT, Biggest Screwup, Brightest Red Light pie in the face contest, best package etc.,.. get creative. A BBQ can also be done. So lots of social opportunity if you are creative. No Alcohol (Don't even think about it !). Food, Grills and Beverages OK.So far we have Ben and I, an other takers?

Man, I'm excited for this. I really want to know what my car can do. I know what my car can do on the track and I know I need to upgrade my suspension for sure.

We definitely should show up as a big group, just to let people know how serious of a group we are.

20 bucks for how many runs? From what I understand is you'll get about two or three runs to get your times for bracket racing (if you don't understand bracket racing let me know and I'll explain it to you). Then once the races start you run until you loose. You don't have to have the fastest car to win either. If you loose you can pay another $20 to buy back in.
