Yesterday I decided to color match my center bezel. I wet sanded it with 600 grit and then a 100 grit. Sanded the hell out of it actually. When I went to spray on the first coat the paint didn't want to stick. It pooled like when water gets on an oily surface. The end result is not pretty. 6 coats of paint and 2 of clear and it has a rough texture to it. Any ideas what went wrong? Its the same paint that was used on my strut covers and headlights. At $20 a can I'm not to keen on wanting to try again. here are the results Looks good from a distance Textures and another one (excuse the dust) How much of a pain is it going to be to strip it down and try again?

Did you use an adhesion promoter? The grit of sandpaper you used is high too.

Go get a can of paint remover. Let the paint remover work its magic and then wash it off. Dry the bezel REALLY good. Then sand with 600. Sand with 1500 and then if needed sand with 2000 grit. Use a good coat of adhesion promoter. A few coats of color and then a few coats of clear. Wet sand the clear and then buff it out using a rubbing compound. If you wanna come down next weekend, Karl and I can help you out.

That stink's. I had the same problem with part's on my old charger. I ended up sanding everything back down (Major Pain) and starting over again. I ended up using the adhesion promoter and also a primer. As stated also you should try a much finer grit sandpaper.
