Exhaust issues...

OK so I have a Cherry Bomb Extreme on my Ram. Went to the same guy that did it and asked about putting them on the Bee...straight faced he tells me "you do not want THOSE on that car, they'll be WAY to loud." Did some youtube searching and only found a Chally with Extremes and it didn't sound to loud. I believe "loud pipes save lives"....but maybe that's just the redneck in me that feels V8's should ALWAYS be heard before being seen. lol

He (Kwik City) wants to replace the suitcase with 2 Magnaflow 14" with no resos and new 4" double walled tips ($450) not a bad price, considering master muffler or whatever it is down the street wants to leave the suitcase and put 2 magnaflows at the end with no new tips for $460.

I've heard THOUSANDS of clips with different set ups on the Rams.

We had a Magnaflo TruX on our little SXT and it sounded "good" for a V6.

I know people go for Corsa (I'm not paying 2k for an exhaust). Are the 6.1's like the new 5.7's and only like a little bit of back pressure?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

You won't lose any noticable torque, i think it was the slp loudmouth 2 w/resos only( mighta been slp loudmouth1 don't quote me there) on my 6.1 with kooks headers no cats. sounded beautiful, loud as can be just like it should be. Deep throaty roar.

Didn't lose but probably 2-3% on the low end torque. And anyone here will tell you it screamed like a beast.
I agree v8's should be heard!

You should be fine with the magnaflows. Pretty sure we have a couple people with magnaflows on here somewhere...

If I ever get back to work and get the money I'm going to put 2 Flowmaster Super 44's on, cut the suitcases off and run straight pipe and put new tips on. I'm not 100% but I think that's what Ben is running and his car sounds Sweet!! I'm hoping to get some low pro electric cutouts put on at the same time. Just got to get the money end worked out, I feel the same as you, I'm not dropping 2K on an exhaust. If I could afford the Sweet stuff like that than I'd be all over it (some day when I win the lottery lol).

I have MagnaFlow Catback Exhaust. In my honest opinion, the stock exhaust is pretty darn good, if I didnt get the killer deal I got, I would probably still have my stock exhaust.
But what I would recommend doing is what Gordon and Lee have done. Keep stock exhaust and remove the reso/suitcase. Best bang for the buck and it give ya the loud sound you are looking for while keeping a little more coin in your pocket, while gaining some moderate performance.

Chris is right, ya will lose a little back pressure, but you will gain everything and then some on the top end.

Since this is Deanna car, I would have her listen to Gordon or Lee car from the inside to see if it pass the wife approval.

Drone is man music and wife's usually hate it.

Deanna can take my car for a spin through parking lot to see if she like MagnaFlow exhaust. It barely meets my wife approval, anything louder wouldnt work.

Hands down the best $100 I have spent on my car was having the suitcase removed. I am still running the stock reso's and tips, but I may be changing that later down the road.

It sounds pretty much stock at idle and when cruising down the road, but once you crack the throttle it is noticeably louder.

I had a '94 GMC with side pipes....and cut outs where the doors hinged....she ran them open (as far as I know) the whole time I was in Korea the last time lol so I think she likes loud as much as I do. She liked the way Gordon's Magnum sounded....so I guess I'll just leave it to her lol since it is "her" car lol
