I know we've just wrapped up 2011, but I think we should open a thread to discuss what we want to do together as a club for 2012. There are so many car shows and events during the summer, and everyone has their own favorites go to that we always seem to have conflicts (and sometimes hurt feels). What kinds of things should be start planning putting on the calendar for 2012?

Autorama is usually the start of the season. Spring Fest in March. Guide Dog Show in Stansbury. Hugs for Life Suicide Prevention in Murray Park. Keep on Rollin in Brighton. Cruisin for a Cure is popular as well.
There was a fun show some of us attended in South Jordan (more of a neighborhood show) a couple of years ago. That might be a good show to really 'take over' this year:) Riverton Prairie Dog Show I think?
Don't really care for the show by Dan's up on the east side. I can't remember what the charity is.

One thought I have about car shows is when I personally walk a show I start getting bored if all I see is the same cars every time. So in the past if my car has been in a show for a couple of years in a row I have a tendency not to go again for a couple of years. I know there are great charities to support, but wonder if we should mix it up and find a few different shows to attend.
Just a thought.

I would love to see us do a charity event. Lets help someone who is in need. I was part of a charity event for a down syndrome kid this year, and it really was fun as well as rewarding in that I knew I was helping someone out.

I actually really like the show's Kellie listed, but wouldn't mind some new ones. What aother ones are there, Gordon? Doesn't Thanks to Frank usually post a list up at the beginning of the year?

I would like see SLCLX/MOU representation together at the same shows. It doesn't really matter which particular shows to me. Although my kids like something to do on the side besides look at cars. They really enjoyed the Peach Festival last year.

I prefer the charity shows over the non-charity shows. There is usually too much politics with the non-charity shows. Cruise nights can be fun. They are a couple of hours vs four plus hours. I do agree that there should be more M&Gs. We could combine a few M&G with a few cruise nights. Most cruise nights are come and go as you please.
I usually will not miss these shows unless I have to work. Hugs for Life Suicide Prevention in Murray Park. (I had a friend commit Suicide when I was a teenager) Keep on Rollin in Brighton (I take my nephew to this show)

YaY Car Shows ;D Just teasing. I understand different strokes for different folks and not trying to knock it, but I think most know my choice of club events.
Depending on schedule plan on visiting AutoRama and LH Miller Show, and maybe and hopefully a few more, if anything to come hang out and support fellow friends.

Not sure where we are at with deciding what the club events will be for this year, but a few BBQs this year would be nice also.

One that I've missed in the past but plan on hitting this year is the "Bountiful Coats for Kids" car show.

To be realistic for me, just about anytime I go, my kids will be with me. I probably won't go to many car shows because it's really hard to keep the kids from touching the cars for an extended period of time!!! I love M&Gs and cruises. I think a few bbqs would be nice. I don't care what it is, as long as there's space away from the busy main street where the kids could gather and play without touching our cars or get hit by passing ones!

Well said & great idea, its easier for me too, if I can bring my lil ones, besides I love me some BBQs

I know that the Park in Taylorsville has plenty of Parking and a playground for kids. Would be a nice spot for a BBQ. Thoughts? (2700 West by the rec center)

Taylorsville park isn't too bad, another option is Murray Park as well. It might be a little easier with freeway access close by.
