Okay I've been looking around all day and looking at "bang for buck" regarding the funds I have available for the go-fast stuff. It looks like a charger of any sort is out of the question. I've been looking up on the nitrous option and almost resurrected the thread about a BT nitrous switch plate that mounts next to the shifter. Beautiful piece of artwork there... So I've decided I'm going to upgrade the half shafts and get nitrous with that plate if I can find who makes it. Only problem I have is that I have no idea how to go about choosing the shafts. I've read about getting some for an 09 challenger?? (Beer for install? ) As far as nitrous goes, what can the stock block handle safely? I keep finding numbers all over the place. I'd like to get something along the lines of 125-150 shot and get a kit with some extra stuff like bottle heaters, purge and other safety stuff. And one other oddball question... Can you have a nitrous kit installed for racing, but when not racing just hook up a bottle filled with CO2 for purging giggles? Nitrous is expensive and all... I would figure that when you go to race and plug in the nitrous filled bottle, the purge would clean out the co2 in the lines. I'm gonna spank the spit out of this lude so bad he will want an rsx even more. }

If you are running Slicks or Drag radials were it bites down really hard at track and grips like no other, thats when you should start looking into halfshafts. The are pretty pricey starting from $999-$1599 for halfshafts/axles alone. www.driveshaftshop.com/domestic-axles/chryslerIf you have a high stall torque convertor you might want to look into one. But there are quite a few highpower (450-480RWHP) SRT8s in the group running stock srt8 axles/halfshafts. Street tires allow for that spin to take some of the harsh bite off the line to prevent breaking halfshafts. Of all the SRT8s here in this club, I have only heard of two rides breaking. That was Phil M (sixspeed) srt8 Challenger with Drag Radials and a manual transmission at that "which are known for wheel hop". Other was Ben(benisaspud) and he is running like 315 wide tires on his srt8 Charger. Yeah it could happen but I wouldnt start to address upgrade til you start reaching 500RWHP. Stock srt8 216mm, the only reason my is upgraded cause I went with Getreg 3.73 LSD setup which came with 226mm halfshafts and I running 2800 stall convertor with Mickey Thompson Drag Radials but I am no where near 500RWHP, hopefully I crack 400RWHP this coming dyno day. Just my .2 cents, hopefully others will chime in with their input. I haven't been to the track since I had the mustang a year and a half ago. Those times were terrible anyway... Barely breaking into the 14's. I've been plenty of times after just to watch but I still look for potential races on the way home from work out of habit. Stock SRT8 are running very mids 14s to low 14s with many of them knocking on 13.99 or lower.

Ah great info on the half shafts. I thought with getting everything set up for the 150 would put my at that mark. Then again I wouldn't spray off the line, just set up a window of fun like in a three part article I read over on lxforums.

I am not sure what 150 shot translate to RWHP maybe 80-100RWHP. Save your money for other mods but no doubt the day may come when you will eventually need the upgrade, lets just hope it happens locally where you can have your car towed home and not out of town, which would suck as it gets expensive to tow outside 50miles and to leave it somewhere would require an addtional trip back. Not to scare you are anything, maybe having that extra piece of mind would be worth the $1k

I've read that it depends on the setup that you use where some companies rate at flywheel power and some rate wheel hp. Ah well I guess I'll have to see. I should be able to get a custom tune on the diablo for running nitrous out at premier performance right? I'm gonna need to get that ashtray sleeper switch box too.

I should be able to get a custom tune on the diablo for running nitrous out at premier performance right? Yep shouldn't be a problem for us! We can probably also get you a discount depending on what kit you choose.

Having built many hemi engines from all motor, supercharged to bottled, I'll offer my 2 cents, pushing more then a 75 shot on a stock block is not recommended, on a 5.7 block even more so. I am also in talks with several companies about running a N0S system, if you would keep me posted on how your build comes together.

PM Karlito, I know he used to make them and they were pretty sweet set up. also check out this one; www.lxforums.com/board/f57/nitrous-switch-plate-hsw-purge-heater-aux-300664/Also if you get a nitrous set up, make sure you have blow down tube, its required if you plan on spraying at RMR track.

Went ahead and ordered the giggle gas. I'll see about getting it installed this weekend after it comes in. At least I should have time to get the ashtray switch panel in.. Maybe. Can't wait for the test.

What amount of shot are you going to go with? When I first install it I'm going to go with 50 just to test it out. I plan on having it ready to go and able to do 125.
