So after tax returns and a bonus at work I got a bit of mod money to spend. I still have my friend itching for a race with his turbo prelude which will finally hit 8#...
I've looked around and found very few ideas on how to really open up the car and so far I've only put in the diablo 91 octane tune with the 180 thermostat. I've been looking more at the turbo/supercharger route but I can't seem to find anything that is under 5k. To do that I'd have to take a loan for the difference. I know the half shafts are a weak point too. Anyone know any good pro charger deals or something decent with a turbo kit?
Thanks.

When I was looking at turbo kits and supercharger kits for my charger they ranged in prices the procharger was about $6,900 plus another $1,200 for install and tuning, the magnacharger kit was over $7,000 plus install and plus dyno time and tuning due to they do not have a tune for the 5.7 hemi yet. Sts has a turbo kit available but still over $7,000. I went with a total custom turbo setup done by JC at fast Times motor sports in Ogden. It took a lot of patience to get this custom setup but it was worth it and JC knows his stuff plus I got a killer deal. Contact JC at 1-801-648-0390. If you do go with a turbo setup do not sacrifice quality parts for cost. I have been working with Jc for over 8 months and I have seen so many blown motors because people wanted cheap hp.
About your rear halfshafts, that is something else you are going to want to budget in because they will eventually go out. Knock on wood mine have not yet but they are about $900-$1600 per side unless you can find a set of used ones for cheap

Ooh I'll have to look at that vortech. Thanks. About JC... He's the one that did/is doing the prelude. It looked to be a clean install too. I've been to his shop once but I've heard good and bad things about him. Does anyone have any experience with getting a "tuner kit" and saving cost sourcing the other stuff elsewhere while keeping quality up? I don't have a problem installing a supercharger setup as long as I don't have to punch the oil pan. Not comfortable with doing that myself. Lol

The bad things is he quotes a faster turnaround on completing a project but he does great work and you have to realize it's going to take longer when it comes to custom work, just ask kellie about her widebody kit. We are still working the bugs out on my setup and it's been over six months but he put a turbo on my car that was said could not be done and he dit it. The biggest issues with my setup was I wanted him to build a turbo that will go to 800 hp and we ran into clearance issues due to the size of the turbo and headders. He did another hemi in a matter of a few weeks with less .

Has he done a good turbo build for a 300c srt? My biggest issue is time away from the car... Still need it for getting to work. That's why I was looking into STS because I'm sure that would be good in a weekend even if I have to take a day off.

We installed a Vortech on a 300C SRT at my work (Premier Performance) in 3 day's time. It would've been 2 but problems with the dyno came up and we weren't able to get it tuned that day.
Now that I had the experience of putting that kit on, I could probably do another one in a day.
As far as going STS I'd say close to the same concept, a lot more piping to work with but having all that space would help with the installation.

I was looking into vortech yesterday and saw that they have the new chargers that are self lubricated. Are people selling the previous types that tap the oil pan still for less?
Also I'm having trouble accessing your work's site on the phone. May just be apple's fault though. Trying to find prices. So uh.... Any club discounts? Lol

Yeah the one we installed on the 300 was self lubricated and had a really nice way to change the oil out with a drain tube accessible from the bottom of the car just like changing the oil. I'm sure you could find a retailer that still has one that taps into the oil pan, but I'm not sure when Vortech changed from that setup. If we get a discount at the shop, then we pass the savings onto the customer. It's usually 10%, but it still helps. This is the website, but it's only been up for a couple weeks and we're still adding the products. But most anything performance wise we can get, even if it's directly from the manufacturer. www.premierperformanceut.com/

Sounds like you are leaning strongly towards force induction. Good thing is there is alot of options, especially superchargers. Cant go with either supercharger or turbo. The least expensive option for power would be Nitrious. Keep us posted of your route/build and hope you are able to beat your buddy's prelude by many car lengths.

Yeah his girlfriend is mad for making him want to spend money in a "one-upmanship" contest. I don't want to really go all out on the car but always wanted to go with a charger if some sort. So far it's between procharger and vortech depending on the best deal I can find. It seems most have a predator tune that will be plug and play so I may have my original predator up for sale when I get the new one.

Both great superchargers and there is quite a few group running both but you should checkout these superchargers as well; Edelbrock E-Force Magna Charger’s new MP 2300 supercharger SMS 296 Supercharger If you dont want to go all out, I would look at Nitrous as that is all it would probably take to beat your buddy 8lb boosted Lude. Supercharger would probably be over kill but at least you wont have to continue playing the one up contest. You can find Vortechs and Prochargers pretty reasonible prices nowadays. Check eBay out and the Lx forums.

Thanks I'll have to check those out. I've always been leery about nitrous, I know it's safe to use when properly tuned and it would sure do the job for the amount of times I go to the track. I just have a twitchy lead foot sometimes and it's always good to flex that big toe and fly on a whim. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll be sure to check out that website when I get on a real computer.

Yeah I hear you about wanting to get on the skinny pedal from time to time.

I haven't been to the track since I had the mustang a year and a half ago. Those times were terrible anyway... Barely breaking into the 14's. I've been plenty of times after just to watch but I still look for potential races on the way home from work out of habit.
