My springfest plan last year was to have Chris work his magic on it. The results were amazing. However by the time I got to the doubletree in irvine, the car was plastered in bug guts and road grime. Atthe hotel, they have detailers that (IMO) did a good job. I had mine done, and I think Doug(Duger99) did as well. ON a side note, when are you heading down? Dave(Pogo) and I have a 2 car caravan going down, Friday morning if you want to meet up with us on the way down. Let me know. My plan was to head down early friday moring like 8 or ealier, but I would love to caravan down if i could. what time are you leaving? Do any of you recall about how much they charge down there to have it detailed? I want to say it was between 20 and 50 but i don't remember exactly. We're planning on leaving Layton at 5am. Sent from my HTC Glacier using ProBoards

Ok that might be perfect then because I'm located in provo so I can leave a bit earlier if I need to, to be able to caravan with you.

Definitely do not wash your car before you leave. It is a waste of time.
If you are inclined to wash the car yourself, get a weed sprayer. Once you get to the hotel, fill a bucket with rinse water, fill the weed sprayer with QD, water, and soap. use a really good mitt and wash away.
I have OCD when it comes to washing my car and can't stand to have anyone else wash it.

You're car looked amazing at the autorama

I usually use Turtle Black in the Box. When I go on long road trips and to prevent bugs, I use an aircraft wax called ReJex Wax. Makes it so that bugs can be wiped off with just a California Duster. They have a great wash and wax on site at the Doubletree Hotel as well.

So my car has been in the shop since December til I can make some money to get my car fixed. If anyone knows of any quick side jobs that I can get some money, I'm totally down for it. Also, if anybody works in a position of IT, Finance Manager, or chooses the telephone providers for their business, please talk to me. Free audit and guarantee to save your business at least 10% off the bill.

The reason, I ask is Wes Johnson's, certified Mopar mechanic, only charges $30 in a hour compared to the $80+ of dealerships. He works really fast as well, so he doesnt nickle and dime you on shop time, for example. Most places around gave me shop time of 8-10 hrs for headers install and Derek did it right at 6.5 hours. He does honest & quality work at reasonible fair prices if you ask me. Derek is the guy that build the Viper 300 ;D and works on Wes's 40+ Mopar collections.

Turtle wax products are scary so be careful. Turtle wax uses carnuba which will clog the pores of you clear and can cause premature oxidation. Stay away from anything with carnuba in it. I'm not a huge user of Turtle Wax or Armor All. Never heard to much negative about Turtle Wax, but on the other hand I've heard and been involved in horror stories with Armor All. I won't eve use Armor All to polish my shoes in a hurry... I used to be a huge Meguires fan, still am. But now I pretty much stick to Griot's Garage. I have the complete kit from Griot's including the clay bar, 4 state cut, buff, and polish, as well as some other detailing goodies. I've polished several times but have yet to use a clay bar on the Magnum... mainly because I'm lazy some times. This summer I have a lot of rock chips to fix, last winter was hell on the car. Nearly 100k miles and its officially showing. We'll see what happens my first detail. But I'm about 99% sure I'm going to be looking into some paint work sooner than later.

How do you find this Derek feller??? I need some work done and could lump sum it and leave the car somewhere for a week if needed. I'd love to have a decent side guy to do some work on it rather than the $110 or so my dealership charges.
