Hey so I haven't ever put my car in a show before and I registered to be in the springfest ;D. but I have no clue what products work the best to make it shine and look amazing. I'm looking for a good product to buff it with then wax it and whatever else would make it look good. Do you have any suggestions or favorite products that you use? Thanks.

we all use different things and between the majority of us at a show you can pretty much expect the gambit of products from one end to the other!!! i polish the paint and wax my car quiet often (probably more then necessary) but my paint really shows the care taken will (alpinewil81) couldn't believe how nice my paint was and figured she was kept in a garage cause the paint is so nice but she has spent her entire life outdoors even through winter! get with Chris (greenwithenvy) he professionally details and can probable give you some of his tricks of the trade and what quick detailers etc he likes most! but prep is the most important a good paint polish and then wax is the foundation of keeping them lookin great, there much easier to get cleaned and shiny with a detail spray if you already have it polished and a good coat of wax laid down! im currently using Meguiars polish and wax and turtle wax ice sythetic quick detailer

Not really relavent, but I love the smell of Lucas Slick Mist Detailer, smells like bubble gum! As far as detailing, here's what I have learned over the years. I wash thoroughly with Maguiar's Gold. Dry. I use Maguiar's tech wax paste for the paint. Then I attack the windows using Stoner's aerosol glass cleaner. I hit the taillights/headlights with maguiar's plastic polish, then go at the trim with back to black. Wheels...before washing, soak the wheels, inner fenders, and tires with purple power. I take the cheapest tire shine I can find and spray the inner fenders, then I use hot shine tire shine (forget what brand) for the tires (I like the wet glossy look). Hit the wheels with some quick detailer, and call the outside good. The interior and engine bay are a whole other process, and a bunch of other products. lol, my wife used to make fun of me. Before Diezel was born, I could take an easy 8-10 hours cleaning my car. Hope this helps, and I would love to hear what everyone else uses!

Oh, and the best place to get microfiber towels is Sam's club!! Like a 20 pack for 10 bucks.

Turtle wax products are scary so be careful. Turtle wax uses carnuba which will clog the pores of you clear and can cause premature oxidation. Stay away from anything with carnuba in it.

My springfest plan last year was to have Chris work his magic on it. The results were amazing. However by the time I got to the doubletree in irvine, the car was plastered in bug guts and road grime. Atthe hotel, they have detailers that (IMO) did a good job. I had mine done, and I think Doug(Duger99) did as well. ON a side note, when are you heading down? Dave(Pogo) and I have a 2 car caravan going down, Friday morning if you want to meet up with us on the way down. Let me know.

the detailers at the Doubletree did a fantastic job on mine! we were covered in bugs and dirty rains and they made it look great, even cleaned inside the wheels door jams everywhere!

not sure right off hand, hand wash and dry, wheels tires and there own quick wax routine was like 20 bucks I think but they offer a complete line from just a wash to full on detail wax and all. socal had all the prices listed on the springfest page the last few years. car spa just down the road also has special rates for springfest.

Yeah, I got the full detail, it was ~$75, but my lady needed a good detail. They did a good job, but I wouldn't suggest going with their most expensive package as they don't have enough time to really put the energy into it. Most I talked to were happy with the basic detail. One suggestion is to be there early because the line backs up VERY fast and you have to stick around to move your car up in the line...I didn't mind too much as we met a couple new people and had an hour or so to chat...
