I put in all the door speakers easy but i am having trouble with my dash speakers. did anybody who switched them out use 3.5? of a 4? I bought a 4' thinking it would fit but it seems that i have to make the circle a little big bigger. did anybody go with a 4' and made the hole bigger?
thanks

A true 4" speaker will not fit without modification. If you have a 4" that worked, its actually a 3.5" basket with oversized mounting seat. If you searched on the old LXForums site, it was one of the most discussed issues as very few 3.5" speakers have a basket and magnet that will fit into the LX dash.
And if you shop at Car Concepts... don't let them tell you nobody makes a 3.5" speaker like they did me one afternoon. I was in town with one blown and wanted to replace them during my stay... the said NOBODY made them. So full of sh*t they are. There are over 8 manufacturers making them, its just a matter of which one will sit in.
I run all aftermarket Boston Acoustic in my car, figured I'd stick with the OEM brand theme. I believe mine are ES35's or SE35's or something like that. If I recall, I think the basket width at the seat has to be roughly 3.125 or something way small.... Size doesn't matter though, a new set in the dash helps staging out incredibly well in our cars.

i had to make the hole way bigger, only to realize that it wasn't fitting right because there's a upward curve. so now the top plastic doesn't sit perfectly.....smh so now im rolling with 1 stock speaker and 1 aftermarket speaker lol. oh and also because the pioneers i went with have a big tweeter in it
