We were working out in the yard and I could smell an electrical fire smell. We thought it was the neighbors garage to the south. We starting walking to the front yard and the neighbors house to the north was engulfed in flames.
No one was hurt, but the house it a total loss. They lost everything except the clothes they were wearing! I feel so bad for them. All we could think about was getting our horses loaded, getting the dogs in the vehicles and figuring out how to get the vehicles a safe distance away. We were downwind, so we got a ton of smoke.
Fortunately the fire department arrived and contained the fire, but it seemed like it took them forever to arrive. Seconds seem like minutes as you watch a house go up in flames.
It certainly does put life in perspective as it can all be taken away from you within seconds.

That sucks, does insurance cover all that? Did you find how the fire started If that happened to me i would be trying to get the charger out of the garage ASAP! One time i saw a fire in my city from far away and in the back of my mind i was thinking i hope thats not my house

Still no word yet on the cause. Yes, insurance should cover it, but it will depend upon how much their coverage is. Since it was a brick house, I doubt it will cover the building of another brick house because brick is so expensive.
Rumors are they had a 100 gallon drum of gasoline or ethanol(?) in the garage. That seems strange why you would have something so flammable and so much of it in your garage? The neighborhood has always suspected them of drug use (meth) but hopefully that is not the case.
My garage is on the other side of our property, so the cars were safe. We have horses that are rights next to the neighbors; they were our main concern at the time.

100gallon drum, trying to save the low price of gasoline before it goes up? lol. Doubt it was meth related because it would of blown up their house.
Horses all good?

Glad to hear no one was hurt. I've been through a house fire when I was a kid, it sucks!
