I'm trying to put together a Fundraiser/Car Show and I'm putting this out there for the support of the club for this event. The event will be put on by SLCLX and possibly MOU after I talk to Lee or Gordon. I've looked through everything to find the date and I think I've found the perfect date. July 28th is what I'm shooting for. There are no major show sor events that day. The organization we will be raising money for is NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). They are a non profit organization that help many people with with illnesses such as Depression, bi-polar disorder, and schizophrenia just to name a few. Here is their website www.nami.org. There are many people that are affected my mental illness in one way or another every day. My family has personally been affected by it. I think that this could be very beneficial for us as a club to our support for such a great cause. Please let me know if this date works for everyone. And any ideas or feed back you may have. Thanks everyone.

Not trying to rain on your parade or car show but there is a lot to putting on a benefit car show. First have you contacted the "cause" about doing it? Second the paperwork and permits to do so are not cheap so if at all possible you really need the backing of the "cause" the IRS rules and regulations say you have to have a solicitation permit and depending on how you do it a 401 3C. There is more to it then picking a spot and telling people to come. I know a lot of people that have tried and it taken years to get enough to break even let alone contribute. Good luck and make sure you have all your ducks in a row and as much info as you can it will be your best defense if there is a problem.

I've been through all of the legal side of things and got that covered. i've been doing leg work for the info for this for a couple weeks. Just didn't want to jump the gun on bringing it to the table till I had a solid foundation in case it wasn't gonna work.

Im confused you said you are just getting started and now you say you have been doing the leg work for weeks. You also said you wanted feed back and opinions. I was just offering mine. I have been involved with Hugs for Life and Kruisin for Kids multiple times and I did not want you to go at it blind just trying to help but obviously you have it covered.

Sorry frank.

Sorry if i sound harsh i just know how hard it is and the hoops you have to jump through and have also been on the audit side and i wouldn't wish that on anyone. As long as you know what you are getting yourself into i honestly wish you the best of luck and i love a good cause car show. If you put it together i WILL come and support you and your cause.
