I know most of you are driving new LX and LY cars but if you have an old Mopar waiting for restoration Mopars of Utah is having a great activity that will be of great assistance.
Showcase Rods and Customs is doing a lot of the restoration work on my '70 Charger. He has been working on the body. Boone has agreed to host our June activity at his shop next week. In addition Gordon plans to have his Dart there to discuss the replacement of the rear quarters on it. So we will have many varied examples of work done and yet to be done.
He will talk about the work he has done and the different processes that have been used to this point. For instance media blasting has included three different types of media depending on the area to be blasted. Plus some has been chemically stripped and he is using different techniques for the metal work depending on circumstances.
Replacement body parts include a door skin, full trunk floor, one trunk extension, rear valence and a patch panel in one rear quarter. Dents have been repaired with a hammer and dolly and the "pin/pull" process. He'll also talk about finding and repairing those pesky rust spots.
If you are planning on restoring a car (and it appears that many of you are) this will help you whether you are doing the work yourself of hiring someone else to do it. I think you'll enjoy the evening very much.
The address is
3690 S 500 W #105
As usual the time will be 7 PM.

If you guys want to see how metal work is done, this is a great opportunity! This shop does restoration, but also does a lot of custom metal work! Besides Lee's Charger and Kira's Dart, I'm sure there will be other cars there in various stages. Boon is defiantly a master at what he does! If you are thinking of having any metal work done, or have a older car you've been thinking about striping the paint off of to repaint (or getting rid of the rust cancer) it might be worth your time to come!
