So the thought has been running threw my head about doing a swap in my magnum come tax time. The issue that I'm having is I can't find out if it's possible or not cause I don't think that this swap has been done yet according to What I have searched.
Idea: cummins motor in the magnum....(I know there would be more than just a motor to swap) -is it possible? -rough pricing -who could do it/quote me

I don't think it has been done. But there is probably a reason it hasn't. I think the costs of a project like that would be huge! You would be better off dropping in a 5.7 or 6.1 and throwing on a SC or turbo. Not as unique but you would have a beast.

That's what I was going for was different. I don't think I'll go motor swap route unless it's diesel. Ill just still to show :-)

Anything can be done with the right amount of knowledge and money of course! I've seen some crazy things over the years and this sounds cool! I say if you have the ambition and cash go for it! If your going that route for power like some of the super fast drag trucks etc then your gonna need more then just a little chassis work, possibly even a full custom chassis to deal with that kind of torque! If your doing it for just the wow that's cool different factor and leaving the cummins basically sock I'd think you could do it much cheaper. I hope you go for it! Good luck if you do!

That swap can be done, but that motor you want is a little hard to come by. Back In 2006 I believe they use to equip some of the jeeps with some of the 5.7 Diesal motors and them will fit with a little bit of mod time you can do it.

Don't listen to Tony... he's crazy!
Really though, in 06 and 07 Chrysler offered a 3.0L diesel in the Jeep Grand Cherokee, just as they will again in 14 and 15. It was not the Cummins however, it was a smaller platform V6. The Cummins is an in-line 6 and will not fit... well, not without a lot of modification to the chassis. If you've ever seen one out of the truck you'd understand why. It is a monster of an engine and when fully assembled weighs somewhere in the 1,200+ pound range and is very tall and long.
If you were serious, d**n near anything can be done. Just like stuffing the V10 under the hood of the Chrysler 300 which has been done a few times, stuffing the smaller V6 diesel in there ultimately could be done if you had the parts, time, and all the money in the world to make it happen. You'd be talking complete drivetrain most likely, not just a motor and some electronics. Not to mention custom cross members and motor mounts and who knows what else.
Like Tony pointed out, good luck finding the V6 3.0 Diesel. I've not seen many ever come up for sale and the ones on the road are still ticking. There's one here in Rock Springs that has nearly 300k on the odometer... pretty insane if you ask me. But speaks of just how dependable diesel motors truly are.
As for performance, that small of a diesel, it's not much worth the hassle. It won't "sh*t and git" like a Cummins without some extra modding. I'm with a few others, do a HEMI swap if you want some good power. But depending on what car you have, the smallest engine available in the Magnum will make for a miserable swap from platform. Might as well just buy something bigger to begin with.
As for dollars, I spent $7,500 on my 6.1 swap and all I had to come up with was a good motor, a camshaft, headers, and programming. Labor was not a necessity in that. The rest was direct bolt in. I've heard of 6 cylinder cars being upgraded to HEMI's and those guys spending well over $20k...
So... what other kind of crazy ideas ya got :-)
