A call to arms!

Well last night my 9 year son was diagnosed with T1D or Type 1 Diabetes. Of coarse my wife and I have been researching everything we can get our hands on and while doing so I came across across a car show that I plan on attending and I would love to see our group be a part of.

There isn't a lot of information on this show as of yet but it is at Wheeler farm on Aug. 29. I am also going to try and start a team for the walk and anyone interested is more than welcome to join.

I would appreciate as big of a turn out to this as possible and I am sure my son (Who loves dad's Charger) would too.

Yeah Christian, keep me posted. I would love to either join the team by walking or making donation... Our good friends/neighbors 7 yr daugther has T1D. I am going to tell them bout the event as well.

Thanks 71. We would love to hear any hints, ideas or personal stories you would like to share. Luckily this happened to our most cheerful, upbeat child and he is dealing with it a lot better than we are.

Glad to hear that your boy is taking it so well Utecharger (love your name BTW. I bleed PURE CRIMSON RED! ) this disease is very difficult to deal with in the youthful years, but if he watches his sugars, he'll do just fine. at least he was diagnosed in an age where type 1 is allot easier to manage. I remember having to pee on glucose sticks & shoot pork insulin....NASTY!!!

Don't know if I can make the show, but keep us posted on the walk donation. I'm also in the ranks with diabetes, but only a class 2.

Well I was able to get a little bit more information from the person in charge of the walk and she informed me that the registration fee should be around $5.00 per car but she will get back to me, hopefully, sometime today for the exact amount and time.

She also encouraged me to get a team started so here it is.

Logan has been a real trooper about all of this and we want to be able to start his new way of life off with a positive experience and show him that he isn't alone in this.

My dad has Type 2 Diabetes. I'm telling all my friends out here in my apartment complex. There are a few of my friends that are interested in helping out as well. They just need to know how long the walk is, so that they can plan their day.

These things are bigger than any rivarly lines and we would welcome them with open arms. Thank you so much for spreading the word and we will look forward to seeing them.

The walk I am told is roughly a 5K so it shouldn't take more than an hour or so.
