Who is all planning on going to MATS.... I just checked out updated website and it looks like a blast. I was checking out all the different race classes. 5.7 & 6.1 New Hemi Challenge (Winner $700) steep entry of $75. I wonder if this is the same as bracket racing, for those stock vs SC/Turbos Hemi.. The New Pony car was is going to be fun to watch, Ilove the bounty "Bounty: If winner of this class is a Dodge Challenger payout to winner doubles to $1,000.00. " Car show is going to be awesome and always up for convoy/cruise...

I am about 90% sure on going now. I wanna check rates on everything like what it is expected to cost. I don't plan on racing but was wondering what the other expenses may be. Hopefully Gordon will chime in since he went last year.

I looked nto a few places and the sahara for 4 nights came to about 55 a night. It all depends on where you want to stay. The sahara is kinda on the ghetto end of the strip but it beats staying off strip for me.

I really think were good to go now. My wife sent me a link to hotels that offer a 50% discount for military (active or retired).

Wow! 50% discount is great. I just looked up the info. It's at the Fairfield Inn by the airport. I am guessing this is pretty far from the strip.

The prices for MATS are $60 for a week-end pass, or $25 for a day pass (if you pre-pay). The trick for getting a good price for a hotel is to book early! Once people know the dates rooms start to go fast! Here is the link for the hotels, www.moparsatthestrip.com/2007/hotel_info.shtml. I don't know the rates, but when you check them make sure you ask for the MATS rate. The Cannery is the main hotel. I'm going to have to double check, but it might be that the $75 fee to race includes your entry fee. I'll be seeing Steve Hinkley tomorrow and I'll double check on that with him. He plays a big part in this event. I'm really thinking about pulling my trailer down for the event this year. It's only $75 for the whole week end. I just have to figure out how I'm going to get both the Mag and the trailer down. However I think my daughter will have that answer for me. If you plan on going, make sure that you plan on participating in the cruise! Once we meet up with the Colorado group I'm guessing that there will be 50+ cars! That's going to be a sight going down I-15! The cruise last year was a blast!

I noticed the Fairfield Inn is one of the hotels listed on the MATS website. That the one I can get 50% off. If all else fails, I can get a room at Nellis AFB billeting. They are $39 a night but wont reserve a room until 30 days out unless on official orders... I guess you can put me on the list as "officially attending." Woo-Hoo!

Sahara is now at 39 a night. Wow, that's a good deal! Question for those that are going... How many nights did you bood for? I am thinking the night of the 25th (since the cruise down is on the 25th) and checking out Sunday. Is this the plan?
