I am thinking of installing a remote start kit in my 06 300 and was wondering if anyone has installed the factory mopar start with the two way remote. It is kind of pricey, the best price I found was 366.00 because you have to buy a base kit and an install kit and then the two way kit. I am wondering if it would be better to go with an aftermarket alarm with start for that price. I am concerned with an aftermarket one because of the factory alarm and the keys being coded to the cars to deter theft.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Mopar remote start. I got a good deal on mine and the Brent Brown Dodge did my install for a pretty good deal. But, if you don't want too many fobs, I would probably get an aftermarket alarm with remote start.

Hey Ed, I have an aftermarket remote start. Mine is the Viper 7701 with 1 mile range. It is a little key fob, shaped like a cell phone. LCD screen. Couldnt tell you the cost as, it was already on car when I got it. I did have to replace the key fob when I dropped it and broke it .... Normally the cost was $179 for replacement fob, I paid $79 on eBay. I guess it comes down to personal preference, but I must say Remote start is a nice feature to have.

Are there any cons to remote starts? I;m not sure about the mopar ones but I had one on a Lancer I owned and it ruined my starter. It could be that it was a faulty one but It soured my taste for them.

I can see that, cause it sounds like mine is taking a little extra longer to start using remote vs starting it up manually with key. I thought it was just me

Why would you want to overpay for Mopar? I would go with an aftermarket brand that actually specializes in remote starts/alarms. Look into Autopage or similar brands, there are so many great quality remote starts out there with a good price.

I would highly recommend getting an aftermarket one. The Mopar one costs an arm and a leg. I just got it at a discount. That's the only reason I have it.

Remember though. You get what you pay for. Back in the day I paid uhhh $400 for my Python And I've had the same one installed in 3 cars for a total of 6 years and NO problems whatsoever.
I'm not saying money is everything. Just don't be cheap and you won't regret it. Spending a little more now with no problems down the line is a win over going chincy and going insane with problems
Cause when they start malfunctioning it's no fun to be at your car with a lady and have your alarm going off for no reason >.>
I stand by python $400 for 6 years and still going strong. Ballin. My only complaint is it tends to eat AAA batteries like 1-2 a month :\ Not that $1 in batteries should be your compelling factor but still. Theres my $.02

For what ever it's worth, I've never had any problems with my remote start, but mine is the Mopar one and came installed at the factory. I use it all the time!
As far as causing problems with the starter, I don't think it will as there really isn't any difference between starting with the key or the remote start, at least on mine. Even when I start the car with the key, if I let go of the key before the engine starts the starter still stays engaged until the motor starts.
I'm also a firm believer that you get what you pay for. But it doesn't mean you have to over pay for something either.

I went to a local audio store yesterday and the guy happened to own a 300 so I asked him how much to install a aftermarket alarm with remote start and two way paging. He told me that there is a new alarm out by crimestopper FS-80 that is plug and play for the chrysler cars. He said that the only splices we to the park lights and adding a pos and neg(which don't have to be spliced). He said he planned to install one in his 300 within a week and I could come fiddle with it before I made a decision. He said the total installed would be 600.00 pricey but the alarm has a crazy amount of options and the keyfob has a touch screen lcd two way silent paging system to let you know when your baby is being violated. I found the alarm for 479.00 on line at sonic electronix so I might do it myself if I like the end product.
I'll let you know the results and if it seems worth it.
Thanks for all the input... it sounds like this is a hot topic for more than just myself
