Hey guys! im from lehi and have really never used forums before so if i screw something up im sorry! haha but i am really into the chargers im almost 21 and looking to buy a R/T . a couple of things i wanted to ask about "and get answers from the people who drive them daily" is
1- gas milage what are you averaging in the R/T? 2- AWD or rear?..we live in utah and i dont wanna get stuck in my street haha 3- what year and mileage should i be looking for?
These are the deciding factors for me to get it. Now i know i shouldnt really be worried about mileage on these cars "you buy the car for the car and not care about the mileage" but i am a student and have to commute, i also own a clothing company so i want a good show car. Please help me out! It would be much appreciated!
Derek

welcome to the club, you'll find there are a lot of knowledgeable members here. I'm not the most car savvy one here but my opinions are as follows, the AWD will definitely be better in the snow, but the wheels have a different offset, so finding nice after market wheels is sometimes difficult.

Welcome to the family. I have a 2008 daytona R/T and she does pretty good on gas. In town I average around 16-17 MPG and on the highway I get around 21-23 MPG. This is all based on if I drive the way the law says.lol. I have always been told that RW drive is better, but I dont drive mine in the winter so AWD may be best for you. year is up to you and miles I would get the lowest. Best of luck to you I am sure the guys on here can hook you up. We have an awsome group of people here and are always willing to help out any way we can. Post pictures when you get her.

I don't have an R/T but my sxt is rear wheel drive, if you get some nice all season tires then you'll be fine in the snow, I have 20" goodyear eagle's

Welcome from Roy. I have a 2006 Daytona, and just like Tanya said I get about 18mpg in town and 23 mpg on the highway. In the winter when the roads are icy I only get about 15 mpg I don't know much about awd, but I would think its better in the snow. The year and mileage is up to you, but shop around because right now with the way the economy is you can find a great deal.

My SXT is AWD and it is better than my wife's Armada in the snow. I hear that the RWD is good in the snow, but the AWD is awesome.

Hello Derek, Welcome to SLCLX, glad to have you here. If you are concern with driving in the snow, AWD would be your best bet, and RWD is actually the worst for driving in snow. Good Luck in your search and keep us posted.

Good Luck in your search and keep us posted. My RWD actually does pretty well! You just need to know how to drive a RWD car then you'll be fine! Plus there's always the fun factor at the church parking lot....AWD can't do that!

Besides me not knowing how to drive RWD in the snow, the only difference would be about, I dont know 200 or so more ponies at the wheels that just spin my tires easily, even when the car downshifts to lower gears, and gets my back end a little squirrely. IMO, Yes RWD is the most fun to drive but is in my opinion the most challenging to drive in the snow/slick roads. Reason being that you have more control over the front wheels because of the steering wheel, the rear wheels, well I cant move them in direction I want to as easy

Welcome to the club from syracuse. I have an RWD R/T. Same gas mileage as everybody else is reporting. AWD's are gonna be harder to find but it'll will be worth it in the winter. Good luck on your hunt!

Derek welcome from the North Country, Syracuse! Don't have any tips other than to get what you want and can afford. I drove my old R/T Magnum around when I first moved to Utah and it was RWD. It did get a little squirrely from time to time during a snow storm, but was still able to get around ok. One thing I've notice about Utah is that they clear the road fairly quickly. So even after storm the next day I didn't have any trouble at all. Just had to behave until then!
I've got an SRT now, have never really check what kind of mileage I get.

My SXT is AWD and it is better than my wife's Armada in the snow. I hear that the RWD is good in the snow, but the AWD is awesome. my RWD absolutely sucks in the snow. There is no weight over the back axle to help. but in knowing how to drive it in the snow sure helps as stated above. as well as parking lots ;D

Patrick(MoNoChRoMaTiC) actually has both RWD for his Charger and AWD on 300. What's the verdict Patrick?
