so im new to all of this...so i have to be there early for a tech to check it out? I'm sure my 5.9L R/T might not be as fast as all of your rides, but i would like to give it a try...

You don't have to be there right when the tech opens, but they will not let you put your car on the track unless it does. They just want to make sure your car is safe for the type of speed it's capable of running. The faster the car, the more restrictions that are placed on it.

What time does the event start because I dont get off work friday until 3:30ish can I still race if I show up after 4:30?

Yep, as long as you've made it through tech and ready to race by the start of the main racing event which is around 7pm. You may miss one or both of the Time Trails (depending when you get there) which normally start at about 4:30pm. But again it also depends on where they have us in the line up too!
