I know this may seem a little early to be talking about this, since we just wrapped up the 2010 season, but I just got an interesting Email from Ron Craft of RMR.
He informed me that RMR will not be offering Club Racing in 2011. I'm bummed to say the least. But, he did ask me to give him a couple of dates that our clubs would like to race. This means the MOU and the SLCLX clubs would be racing each other, instead of other clubs. He would set aside one, if not two nights for us to do this. I think this would be fun as that way we would not have to race some of those seasoned races as we did in the past. Are there any suggestions for dates, and how many would be interested in running their cars down the 1/4 mile? I'd like to see if we could get two nights next year.
The only other option if you want to race is to enter in the Heavy Class in the street legal series. But you will be committed to racing 9 to 11 races, and be racing some very seasoned racers.
Let me know what you guys, and gals, think. I need to get the dates to him within the next 30 days.

Do we have to race against MOU or can we race SLCLX members also?
I still plan on racing heavy next year and can it be any day of the week? I cant do any races Monday-Thursday so hopefully they can be on the weekend.

Is it gonna be just us racing that day? If so how many races do we get?

Well that is a bummer, but at least they are willing to set aside 2 days next season for our club. I would say, stick with Fridays and see if we can get one in May when weather is still cool and one Sept before season ends, when weather is still cool. I think those are the 2 best months as far as DA/ Temp. Thats just my .2 cents. Hey Gordon, Mikey and Ed and the rest of the regulars are you guys planning on running heavy (street class). I am thinkin about it, but dont think I can commit to 9 -11 races. Probably good for one a month, so that would be around 5 total. Was club not profitable for them, what are they going to replace it with? Sounds like someone (ponch) has been hard at work Sounds like your ride is coming along fast! What shot of nos, are you planning on running? I assume you are getting a CRM tune with the new Cam? Tony, what cam did you go with? Anyhow, cant wait to see what she pulls in the 1/4! Sounding like we are going to have a pretty good turnout from SLCLX. I will try to get a rough list of those that are interested. 440Gordy/ruslbus MikEy ponch79 V6 1sikcharger srt801 abl2fly gomango BENISASPUD 2chargerguy/70ChargerRTSE hadlock801 lambosrt missrt4 jlawless srt8300c srtxlr8 (Ed B.) The races would be on Fridays along with the normal Street Legal Series. My suggestion would be to have the two clubs together again so we can make sure we have enough cars. As far as how many races, it would be just like Club racing, two time trials and then into the eliminations. The farther you go into eliminations the more runs you will have. We would be racing each other, no outsiders. So someone from either the MOU or SLCLX will go home with the 1st & 2nd place wins. There's enough of us that have done this enough to help those of you that haven't bracket raced before. The V-6's can have just as much fun as those of us running the bigger engines, you could even end up winning! ;D
I won't be putting the Magnum in the Street Legal Heavy Class, don't have the time right now to commit to 9 to 11 races, and I'd rather put the money into the other car. If we can get two club races, I think that would be fine for me this year.
Chris I like the May & September suggestion. Any other thoughts for anyone else?

Sounds good, we should go head to head with the mustang club if possible. I know they raced at least twice in their own class next year. May/September works for me and I also plan to attend as many heavy races I can also.

A little birdie told me ;D( jk, thats just me lurking around, they seem like a cool bunch of folks like us. I say we should invite them as well, if we are inviting the Mustang group.) I think we may get more folks out from SLCLX & MOU, if it was just our 2 clubs, but I could be wrong.

I would like to race, but it depends on how much it would cost and what time it would be on friday.
